A visit to the little mermaid appears mandatory but 'little' is a fitting description. The hippy freetown of Christania, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freetown_Christiania, and the tivoli gardens, http://www.tivoli.dk/en/, are worth a wander while around center of town.
Just had a look at my photos from my visit, it is nicer than I have recalled - Enjoy
Got back last night and you are right it is a pleasant place to visit
It's super clean an has a safe feel to it, great for a break away with no kids
Only problem was its so expensive now I'm not being tight but
Well just thought I would update this as I started it......Today I did my Christmas Present "Auto Circus"
Drove over to Northampton early this morning to the Stock car track......Let just say when I got there I was thinking this is going to be crap and everyone is going to be giving each other high sixes.....
I am happy to say I was wrong.....
It started off with the funniest drivers briefing I have ever had......the bloke was hilarious but managed to get the point over about safety in a very funny way......Some of the circuits around the country could learn a thing or two about how to present a safety briefing from this guy.....
Anyway briefing over overalls on and off we went to our first challenge.
Reliant Robins I haven't driven one for about 23 years but got back into the swing quite quickly......3 flying laps as fast as you can on mud tarmac and concrete surface without rolling.......so I gave it my best shot.....you should really have a go at power sliding a Robin its great fun.....I had it on the rollover structure on 2 corners so obviously that means I was on 2 wheels.....
It was noisey cold and muddy but came 2nd in our group.
When we finished that it was off to a short 3 x surface track for banger car laps....Volvo 700 series I think it was I went last in our group.....first lap to practice then 5 flying laps and the fastest time over the five laps was recorded....
Lap one was taken fairly cautiously to get a feel of grip levels.....that was an easy answer "There wasn't any" so the next best option was go flat out...so I did as it was an auto I thought left foot braking would be the order of the day......It worked a treat wash off some of the speed keep the power on and drift.....what a hoot.....
Next on the list was reverse steer car ! This was a real mind fcuk.....you had to negotiate a slalom of cones and gates in a car that when you turned the steering wheel right it went left and visa versa......you should try reversing it too......I was pissing myself laughing but coped suprisingly well....but it really does play with your head.
moved on to caster cars after this basically like a skid car back wheels just on a jig with the wheels off the ground so very little rear end control......had to do figure of 8 round a series of cones etc......again quite difficult but fun watching some people getting it very wrong and demolishing the tyre wall.....
Finished off in the double decker cars really funny started off in the bottom one with just the throttle and brakes whilst the co driver up top took care of the steering another slalom course......then swap over nad have a go steering while the person below is peddleing........got to have some trust there....although the cares were severely restricted but to be honest if they hadn't I dread to think how long it would have been untill someone was on the door handles.....final run was 3 x double deck cars having a 3 lap race.....That was quite strange.....
Anyway I have never laughed so much doing a driving day as I did today...bloody good fun....not to serious.....well organised all be it in a bit of a pikey location...but all the staff were really friendy and were very focused on everyone have fun.....
I have spent a lot more money in the past and had less fun than I did today...so I can highly recommend it you want something alternative give Auto Circus a go at Northampton.... Great fun all round...
