Seeing this bumped and with current automotive deck shuffling by a certain chap, I would answer the original question posted by your good self as follows
'What is the 'better' Impreza to go for?'
Anything owned by IWant1 :)
He chooses decent examples, spends a good few quid improving them and then sells them before he's done any damage or imposed any wear and tear
The perfect guy to buy from I reckon.

Wagons are cracking things and seem to be readily available. Good luck mate

If you are still looking I would suggest any Classic, waggon/saloon that has been well maintained, sensibly modified and not seeking silly BHP figures, had mine 4 years and been excellent

Thanks for the compliment fella, I racked up nearly 1000miles in the 555 the later 600 rather rapidly!

Most of the fun in owning all these motors is the chase/deal, a bit it fettling then first few rides out, then iam board it's like a first and second date after that its just nagging and house work.....

If you we're interested in a non wagon iam now writing an advert for my uncles silver classic!

Thanks guys, I do this time round want (albeit hard to find) a near to stock one as possible. Don't really want anything that's been tuned or had many mods done to it. :) Another tarty thing is that I want to try and find one in either silver, white or yellow. :D Not too keen on the other colours for a wagon. So once we've sorted a few things out here at home, I'll get the truck ready and draft up an advert for pistonheads and see where we go from there. :)

Lee, thanks for the offer mate. But I am plumbing for a wagon now as the extra rear space would make sense for holidays etc.

You can forget yellow Dan. Yellow wagon's are rarer than a rare thing that has studied exclusivity at the University of one off's..............anyway, any yellow other than Russ's custom Cadmium yellow would just look utter pooh (imho)

(Blatantly trying to keep the forum clear of too many yellow cars as I want one for myself)

I did see a cashmere yellow one a month or so back on ebay. But admittedly, that was the last time I saw a yellow one. And it didn't look as vibrant. :)
