As a newbie to the world of motorsport I find that supposed grassroots motorsport is very much like an 'old boys club', very closed and very secretive. I have just tried to look at the HCC website and after 15 minutes have the opinion that they Do Not want new members.
Just try finding any info.
One of the things that initially appealled to us about 'Time Attack' was the plain speak they used, with reference to rules and regs. Not so now, everything now is 'As per msa rule 5:11.75'. For Feck sake who doing grassroots motorsport reads that shite.
The lack of photos and videos again only goes to help the illusion of a closed club. If they show how much Fun it is then surley more people would join.
Rules and Regs. are needed but what they forget is that not everyone can read and digest all that crap but it doesn't mean that they are thick and therefore dangerous. Would these clubs welcome someone like Richard Branson....yes.....Even though he suffers from dyslexia a condition that afflicts a lot a people and makes reading the msa rule book, not a viable option.
I have spent alot of time trying to look into some sort of motorsport to get involed in and everything is hidden, or you have to register first just to get any basic info.
Grassroots motorsport
The problem with grassroots Motorsport is most people are old school not sure many are interweb savvy! Auto grass has 50 ish circuits in the uk a race meeting every weekend and one tiny forum that gets 10 posts a day... I found sprinting very much the same... Enough of us on here have done it to have a decent stab at an answer!

I think an option for you maybe to get along to some events which you think may interest you and talk to the people participating ,this will give you a very good indication of what the general costings could be aswell as seeing what the competitors are like .

I do understand what you are getting at Pablo. From memory the HCC membership was very reasonable although ive not renewed my membership for a couple of years.
Yes it was very old school and i actually quite liked it for that reason. The quarterly magazine i still miss. If i ever did have any questions i did things the old fashioned way and picked up phone.
Although from what warboys has said on the other thread it looks like that might be changing? Sorry thats not much help now mate.
So are you thinking of doing a few sprints? From my experience everyone involved either running or competing in the sprints were a very friendly bunch. Yes it was a bit cloth cap, But that suited me better than the willy waving loadsa money approach that seems to go with some other higher levels of motorsport.

I don't know what I want to do just know that i need to do something with the car. Track days just don't do it for me and after a lap or 2 i get bored. The only circuits that have held my focus and excited me were the Nurburgring and Silverstone GP circuit. Outside of those the biggest buzz came from the BigPwer autotest we did.
