yes mate. all the running gear is the same.
the escort cosworth body panels will not fit onto a mk5 escort shell
because the 2 cars are different sizes.

Bart/Pabs,
Have you ever heard of anyone sticking an Escort RS Turbo CVH into a CVH Sierra?
I ask as there is a cheap CVH near me, and I know the CVH responds well to head work and cam swaps, but they're so old the cheaper way might be to add an RST lump as the cars already set up as an injection CVH.
Please excuse the ramblings of an idiot......

PS From Google it can be done with ignition and downpipe changes........hmmm..not managed to find anyone who's done it though.

rob, as long as the sierra gearbox would line up i carnt see why it wouldn't work.
there would be some fabrication work needed but you can do that yourself.
biggest expense i can see would be getting an exhaust made up and sorting
out water hoses.
with that conversion i would recomend a 24v cosworth rad for cooling.

trev, if you lay under a escort cosworth and a sierra cosworth the only way
to tell the difference is the exhaust system, if you took the body kits off
and exhuast system it would be dificult to tell.

Rob,

I don't know of anyone who has done the cvh swop. Probably because a standard cvh is onlt 133bhp. Yes they are easily tunable but once you cost it all up far easier and cheaper to go 24v cosworth.
Al's GT comes with 125bhp standard my old GT had 139bhp so there are cheaper and easier options for oomph, if thats what you're after.

Trev,

The first escort, for me is a no. Unless for pure track work and even then would be likely to suffer overheating problems. imo. As the header tank is on the wrong side of the engine and sat right next to the turbo.
When we converted ours that was one of the things we had to move.

There are loads of smashed up cossies out there plus engines for sale. Remember a saff cossie is a sierra just with cossie tax on all parts, eg sierra headlight

It would make sence to buy a complete car if I was to buy the escort shell
And transfer it all over and if I was going to the trouble it would have to be 4wd
