Oh dear, I think its dead or dieing

Post by Rob S »

My brother in laws E36 Alpina kitted car overheated according to the dash gauge, and was quite stinky. Internal temperature from the heater was up and down like a yo yo. I checked the top radiator hose, which was hot & hard, but the adjacent expansion tank was cold. Mayo in the oil filler. The viscous clutch appears knackered too. I ve suggested he gets a sniff test done, but fear it could be the h/g. Shame, its got some lovely guys on it.

I wondered about the pump Lee. He ll probably scrap it mate, nowhere to keep it off road. It's a long way to trailer it back from Cheltenham mate.
