Bmw m3
I think the cracks are hard to spot because they don't originate where you would expect them to. On one side anyway. The other side it's just plain hard to see anything because of obstructions.
I inspected my car with my mechanic on a ramp and we only saw very slight corrosion on a couple of spot welds but nothing else. I then searched out a 'How to' video and realised we were looking in entirely the wrong place!
I have my car booked in at Elms BMW in Cambourne for an official check now along with a couple of other faults I want to see if they will fix on warranty.

Let me know how you get on Tommy, if you get any luck with warranty I may pop to coopers and have a word :-)Tommy wrote:I think the cracks are hard to spot because they don't originate where you would expect them to. Been looking into removing the CDV (clutch delay valve) on the m3, as its on the end of the clutch line I will be getting that braided whilst its apart
Have any of you m3 experienced chaps got any experience of this bypass?
Apparently it makes gear changes smoother, especially 1st to 2nd, and more importantly eliminate clutch slip on full bore starts

Mine had it removed Robski and I know most of the track lads dump it. Should probably do it my Compact so I'll be interested to see how you get on.

MY car was ex-BMW Approved hence having a warranty. The subframe issue is done on goodwill though and the rules are usually that the car is under 10 years old.Rob_B wrote:Let me know how you get on Tommy, if you get any luck with warranty I may pop to coopers and have a word :-)
Elms found a tiny crack in the floor but asked that it be a little bigger before they put in the claim to BMW. There's nothing to suggest they will decline. I'll drive the car for a couple more months then take it back.
On the AUC warranty I managed to get over

popped into SCA today to potentially get the braided clutch line fitted and the CDV removed, unfortunately the line could be made up as one of the unions looks like a BMW only part
however Chris kindly removed the valve for me
also whilst the car was on the ramp i thought I'd check of the rear subframe, i had a short inspection and i couldnt see any obvious cracks so thumbs up
back to the CDV the car certainly changes gear better, it now got a real positive change, so thumbs up for the simple bypass
not had a chance to give it a full bore launch, so what this space
The eBay bug also got me on my day off, I managed to pick up a steal of a KN induction kit for the M3, cant wait till it arrives
paid such a good price for it that if it doesnt work out i can re sell it for the same if not more moeny then what i paid for it, another bonus is its just been cleaned and oilled - let the barking commence
