For a Section 1 isnt that the licence where you need to have a reason for it rather than the Shotgun licence which anyone (provided they meet the criteria of where to keep the guns etc) can apply for ? Its normally farmers with land etc that can have this isnt it ? But yep you are right, you are allowed pump action weapons and shotguns with magazines.

You arent allowed handguns at all though are you in the UK ? They stopped that didnt they ?

The sheer amount of money the gun industry brings to the US will mean its an uphill battle to remove them fully. Mind you I think South Africa is much worse in terms of gun crime stats than the US.

Yes mate, you have to have a reason for it and that usually comes down to joining a club, not your skeet type clubs or grouse shooting clubs but the civvy equivelent of CQB I believe.

I only learnt this myself a few weeks ago when a former colleague popped over for a brew and explained the procedure that he'd just gone through. I always assumed the 2 shot/3 shot rule applied but was corrected.
He'd just completed a course the previous week in his spare time, which was by all accounts pretty standard (quite a few Police/Ex Police in attendance) but the most concerning thing from his point of view was that four of the students were less than 100% on the ball and still got a pass, albeit not completely incommpetent they were still a bit ropey with certain drills.

By completing this course cleared him for posession of 2 buck ammo, which I belive forms a more compact slug like projectile

In fairness it only took 2 weeks to formulate the paperwork, have his property assessed for suitability and then purchase the Mossberg (from the wife of a Police Officer who was herself a Police Officer, it only cost a shade over
[img] Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with....Ray Mears or Bear Grylls?

A. No question....Ray Mears....you could make a shit load more stew out of that tubby little fecker [/img]

I was going to type this, but it's easier to cut and paste. You can effectively have a shotgun on a whim if licensed, but a Sec 1 needs to be for a reason. All purchases and sales need to be pre-approved, and more often than not through authorised sellers.

And now four firefighters have been shot in the States, two dead when they attended a fire.

The conspiracy theorists are going batshit about this.......
