Agreed

and I've come to realise that there's absolutely no point in putting your car up on stands for a year (or three) spending stupid amounts of $ on 'getting it to how you want it' and not actually getting to enjoy driving it for that whole period because it's waiting for the next expensive mod to be completed and in the mean time is undriveable....

cheap mods ftw and all that!

Really nice guy that owned that (pictured looking like a motorsports Chris Martin ;) ) It certainly went very well when it was working properly too.

That'll be James' zed then, looks tidy but I heard there were some niggly problems

I've been busy getting all the niff naff and trivia out of the way to ensure that my National B non-race licence is squared well in advance for next year

Disabled drivers can't apply on the day and have to submit their application along with allsorts of paperwork and medical documentation, to MSA direct

I thought this would be the case and have been advised in detail by David Butler, BMSAD Chairman

Looks like this callsign will be rocking some funky blue and white 'D' badges next year :driving:

We're aiming off for Club Challenge RWD

there's definately a significant power to weight disadvantage over a lot of the other runners but it'll give us scope to improve over time

The aim now is to get some seat time and testing in

Thank God for that........"seat time"!!
Those two magic words that many people forget about when it comes to going fast. I'll be really interested to see how you get on with this.

I would have thought that your BHP/Tonne would have been pretty good?

I had all sorts of ideas with regards to custom aero and weight saving but then figured that I'd be adjusting blind and could inadvertantly un-balance the car, and without knowing how it/I drives in it's current state I'd have no base line to gauge against

so utimately the aim is to get a feel for it over a few track days, that way I'd at least know what my start point is

And this is a point that is so often lost when people chase extra power/more grip/better braking etc etc etc

Until you know you and your car's parameters, why change anything at all (unless you know of a fundamental weakness). I get faster everytime I get coaching and the longer I own a car in the same spec, the more you extract from it (or that's how it used to work when I actually took part rather than talking a good game :) )

Absolutely

and the other thing that was so desperately needed was for me to give myself a propper reality check because as much as I've had some weird and wonderful ideas over the past few years they were never going to come to anything.

The builds always seemed to grow arms and legs and before I realised it, progress was actually going backwards.
A more grounded approach to next year was called for and hopefully this new attitude along with the much needed financial support, will see some progress at long last

At the end of the day we all have to start somewhere and it's been a while since I was on track so this time it's a case of new car, new attitude, no pressure and just enjoy
