95 WRX Type RA

Post by Tk »

After being told i should here is a thread for the RA :)
this was bought after mike and me talking of sprinting again next year in 4wd road legal class

after searching for a couple of weeks i plumped for a lightweight wrx type ra, i wanted one in white but red was also an option and had to be an early version 1 or 2, a trip to ascot with the good lady (in the dark) saw me driving home the car with a noisy boost issue, i thought the turbo was worn with a bit of play and propeller hitting the housing as it was making some boost but after an inspection it turned out to be an intercooler boost pipe issue after fitting a longer bit of 45mm silicone i took it down the road and the smile was rather huge on my face.
a pic from the seller

its pretty standard with a 3" exhaust, sti rear lights, some blue silicone water hoses, a big gay wing and thats pretty much it

first thing to go was the big gay wing, the Ra came from the factory with no rear spoiler and this was fitted with c clamps so its gone

the type Ra came with not much in the way of comforts and came from the factory for the use in group n rallying etc.. so no aircon, abs, rear spoiler, unpainted mirrors and door handles, short ratio gearbox, no electric mirrors or windows, no sill trims and a few other bits.

the enkie gold wheels are 16" and in a bad way so picked up a set of 17" lightweight oz superleggeras that will be fitted this weekend,in fact i have been gathering up quite a stock pile of bits like:

large fmic with pipework
tein type ha adjustable coilovers
miltek de-cat 3" downpipe
carbon sti front upper strutbrace
forge dv
4 pot front calipers/discs and mintex pads
stick on front number plate for the bonnet
fog light covers and brackets
17" superleggeras

once i get this little lot fitted its time for an esl and map

p.s loving the flat four burble again

Hahhaha :D
That looks lovely mate, and so much better in the sun.

I will be watching the two project threads of Mike and yours very closely. I also hope to get along to some of the sprints with you, even if it is only in a spectating capacity

Thought you'd be sticking with your Sparco 2000's or whatever you normally have mate?
