555 wrx sti

Post by mikeb »

Well i carn't believe ive gone and got another subaru after being away from the mark for 3 and half years they are a love hate relationship but i must admit when me and trev where talking about getting back into sprinting i was excited to have some 4 wheel drive fun again.

The car is a 1996 wrx sti 555 which i found on ebay in oxford after a few conversations with the owner his brother had owned it for 9 years and he loved going out in it he bought but never really used it for the year he had it.

so off to oxford it was on arriving it looked ok it was totaly standard apart from a 3inch stainless full system and a dump valve and the wrong rear spoiler so after checking for oil leaks from rocker covers and all the usual places it was dry as a bone no rust engine was stone cold which i asked him not to start it before i got there.

It started straight away no piston noise no smoke but was only running on 3 cylinders and i promised my self i wouldn't buy a car with a issue but some times knowledge is dagerous i was totaly straight with the guy and said it could be a plug a coil pack or a head gasket after me saying no thanks he asked the dreaded question of what would i give him for it and to be honest i didn't won't it and if i bought a subaru home with a issue di would of killed me after having a think of its history never been on track the guy was in his 40's and his bother wasn't probably much younger so went in with a offer and he excepted it, fuck it now ive got to load it up and think how iam going to explain this to the misses.

Well saturday came got my self a new set of plugs

Brilliant Mike :)

I'm chuffed for you matey on a number of counts;
1- You got away with it
2- You're back in the 4wd sprint game
3- Di didn't need to have 'that' chat with you :rofl:

Seeing a grown man do the walk of shame when they know they have bought a pup and now they need to break it to the Mrs is never nice to watch!

Nice news wheels too. Look forward to the updates.
