Mk2 gti at Snetterton today

Post by RobCallow »

Been to Snetterton today

Bloody hell it was cold anyway. Watched the Golf Gti race and spotted a silver golf with red stripe on it sure I have seen that car on here but may be mistaken?? Also saw Luke Wales racing sure he used to be on here as well.

The silver Golf with the red stripe is Andy Warnes, and yeah you're right, Luke may well have been there too. How did they get on? Was it a good day Rob?

Yep it was Mr Warnes out in the Silver and Red # 25 machine, securing 2 10th place finishes in less than perfect conditions.
My 8v shell has finished it's racing life with a Class Win from the back of the grid with maximum ballast (went round the outside of the leading car around Coram in the wet, what was I thinking?!!!!!) and a 2nd place in the final race.
It took a knock in the b-post from a spinner in the first race and has pretty much finished the shell.
Perfect excuse to build a new one!
Thanks to Andy for the loan of the tyres, didn't scrub them too much!

Cracking result Pike :D Around the outside at Coram always takes a certain style of minerals, and it's nice to see that you haven't lost yours! Like you say, an ideal excuse to get building for 2013

Are you staying with an 8v for next year? Just that when I saw Andy a few weeks ago, he was telling me how pleased he was with MASS and the 16v they'd built him (although saying that, I think he was hoping for better than 10th @ a power circuit like Snett)

Are you going to the Charity Race Experience in November mate? Would be good to catch up if you are attending........

Thanks very much chaps.
I've already dipped my toe in the 16v water so will probably continue in that direction now.

Conditions were a little slippy to get the power down (even in the 8's in places) this pretty much neutralised any sort of power advantage

I'm not going to be able to make the charity day, I might surprise you and turn up at a meet one day will be good to catch up.
