Dry sump looking buffty!

This rubber hose was coated in 'tyre' according to Dan!!

So one basically clean Evo


Two drying towels for the bodywork and a separate one for the wheels
Previously 'burned' boot interior

The dash was tricky and requires more work tomorrow

The seats , carpet and rest of interior was easy enough

Nice roof diffuser finish

Cleaned Lexan which can be a real pain to clean without scratching it


Carbon mirrors came up beautifully

Exhaust cleaned and polished

With a decent exterior coat of polish, a further treatment of specific areas where scratches or scuffs were deeper, and then a lovely coat of wax the car looked a bit like this


Sorry about the photos as the light was poor all day, and as the afternoon went on it didn't get any better.

We agreed to get the car inside and up in the air to clean the inside of the wheels and use the improved light to check for anything that needed a final once over.




So, that brings us to the end of today's 7 hour marathon! More work tomorrow but in truth I don't expect it to take much more than an hour or so and then Logan should get about three months of easy maintenance out of the work. During this time the car shouldn't need much more than hosing off and a quick chamois

Trying another photo/image host to boost clarity The original images were taken on a 12mb camera so when they started life as 4000 pixel wide, they should have been OK for forum use (until Photobucket killed them)

I think minus.com seems to flag on some seach engines as a potential malware site but it came recommended and the quality of image standard is better (You can download all of my images in up to 4000x3000 pixels)

The Mega Pixels helps, but your little agfa isnt going to give you great pics without perfect lighting and even then :/

Go on, splash out on a second hand DSLR like an EOS 400D a flash gun or similar and a 50mm prime You'll have much better, less flat pics and a whole bunch of new nerdy acronyms to learn. Where's Matt when you need him?

Aside from the terrible photos ( ) I thought I'd add some pics of some more recent work. I had been asked to come in and 'sort out' the underside of an Evo 8 that had stood for a few years. The owner had decided that it was time to invest a fair few quid in the old girl, so the phone call came from Dr Hayward, and I was booked in.

The car was essentially dry. Quite a bit of surface rust in the arches and along the floor pan but nothing unusual and I was pleased, once again, to get the opportunity of sorting this now before it got ruined by more English winters and minimal protection from the factory.





So you can see the seams, the potential areas of trouble but also you can see that it is pretty good under there. I'd done loads of research about potential materials to apply as standard Waxoyl is great but some find it a bit 'liquid' and it doesn't do as much as something like Schutz to suppress stone damage. I was lucky and spoke to a guy that looks after 4x4's for a living and we discussed what I wanted to achieve and he recommended a product that he uses..........a few hours on the net that night, and I'd susses out where I could buy the material and gun that I'd need. Much dearer than the 3M stuff but reputed to be the best so, that's what I bought.

With the bumpers off, arch liners removed, suspension off (as this was being replaced) it was time to scrub off the loose mud and soil and mask up and get spraying!

So with the car protected, Gary happy with the finish and the car demasked it was time to clear up and get ready for the next job
The whole thing was completed between about 9 and 4pm but you really need to make sure that you won't be welding for a good while because this stuff burns like you would not believe (Apparently)
