Took Pugsey for a little drive today, well 80 miles in total with me following Alan in his GT:auto:.
I always knew the sierra's suffered from tram lining along parts of the m6 but the pug with those over size tyres was like a leaf falling from a tree. The seat gave me back ache, the mirrors are too small, not sure how it changes gear as the gear stick doesn't feel as if it's connected to the gearbox.

The really scary part was when I went to adjust how I was sitting in the seat and the car accellerated:willy_nilly:. For feck sake how light is that accellerator pedal, you can turn round reach in the back seats grab a bag and turn back in a sierra without any change to your speed (No I haven't tried it). What's going to happen in the spring when my hayfever starts.
'Sorry for doing 130 officer, I sneezed a couple of times'.

We haven't done one of these tandem road trips for years and i had forgotton how much fun they are. We know exactly what the other is going to do, change lanes as if joined by a rope, maintain a constant distance even at varying speeds.

I didn't even put the stereo on till I turned off to go home and Alan carried on to his. Thats when I realised I was smiling for no reason.

Back to buisness it did just over 30 mpg so happy with that as well.

Simple pleasures I know, but times are hard:driving:

My love of driving and cars in general had pretty much gone. The last time i even drove the Time Attack car was the BigPower dyno day at APT when I managed to break Alans freshly built bumper on the way there.

Pugsey could well be giving me the love back.....There are still a couple of jobs that need doing before i'm totally happy with the car but she drives really smoothly, is stiff enough to make her twitchy over bumps in the road a lot like my old 2.0 4be. Although in a car with such a short wheelbase it's......interesting. I just like drive the car and even have a smile on my face when I look at her.

She may even see a track day next year, who knows.

I quite like the gran turismo bumpers on these, is it something you've considered Pablo? Would go well with the nice wheels you have

Free motoring is great:). So far i've done 150 miles on the same amount of petrol that I use to do 80 miles. The saving in fuel costs will easily cover the cost of the insurance.
Can't get shit in the boot though. Had to take a 17" alloy over to Alan at work tonight as the poor sod had got 2 punstures but only had one spare. The wheel only just fitted in the boot and i mean just. Still, I can live with that:D
