I've had a slightly strange evening tonight.
My car is a 2001 AUQ 180 Cupra (As stamped on the engine), and ran a conservative RR back in the summer at 163 with the MAF unplugged as it was knackered. I've since serviced the car and replaced the MAF, and it's run well enough since.
I took it to someone tonight to read the ECU map, as I'm looking at having it remapped, and he could nt "read" the ECU properly looking under the appropriate car description, but could read the ECU when he selected the Cupra R 210 icon.
He's added nothing as there seemed to be some issues with reading it consistantly, but on the way home it read 152 g/s peak in second gear on the MAF using "Torque OBD" app.
I've found on the Vortex forum that this figure loosely equates to 209 bhp.
So my question is, what the bloody hell is going on?

Correction to this, my maths were misdirected. A tec on the Seat site has said it's running about 190bhp according to the MAF readings, and suggests it may have been flashed with a Revo trial that has expired, hence reverting to normal boost, but keeping indications of the 210 map. I guess I'll know more in due course....

Have you already got someone in mind for the remapping?

What mods as the car got?

Only reason I ask is I used to have MK4 Golf GTI 1.8 turbo which useds basically the same engine and it was the first car I properly modified and I loved it!

Here is my old one...

Not going to plan at all this. Having looked at the ecu with three different pieces of software, , it appears that my car does not have the expected ecu, and a different file is required. Apparently this happens quite a bit. Might have a map on it Monday. I'm also told some early vag ecu s can get problematic with new maps flashed to them. If it s not going to happen ill stick an exhaust on it.

Sorry to hear that this hasn't been smooth sailing but don't chuck in the towel just yet. They will be able to sort it, but I'm surprised at the trial and error stuff if I'm honest.

It will all work out mate............have faith :thumbs:

It appears that he is very much the bloke who puts the file onto the ecu, rather than the file programmer. I'm a little surprised to, but he is so much cheaper and if the files are all written by professionals, I should be ok. Famous last words. I think the main issues have been caused by how he operates.(by that, I mean he has, been very accommodating around my work hours) It normally goes 1. Read ecu 2 email file to programmer 3 programmer file parameters 4 sends file back 5 new file written to ecu6 smile all the way home. Because this has been done at silly hours around work, the programmer has not been online when the cars being read. Well see...

Sack it all off as a bad idea and buy yourself a nice Evo 7..............I know of a very nice white one :) Quite clean at the moment too (That won't last though as the owner lives in perfect rally stage countryside)

Joking aside, this kind of thing is just not worth stressing about. Not when you have Rylan on X-factor now :thumbs:

@Dom,
Love the colour of the Golf, sits lovely on those wheels too.
Mine is Stu's old one, so Cupra R suspension, grooved brakes, poly dog bone, smoothed and drilled air box. Nothing major, but assuming it lasts I'll do bits as and when....
