You know what... you racing in the Compact Cup is something that i'd really actually like to watch! After seeing the way you used to drive Betty, your enthusiasm for racing and your good friends on here for support (/free labour) i genuinely think you stand a chance of doing quite well.

Go for it... you know you want to ;)
Photos attached. As for the racing, that will only happen after a significant and successful period of well paid work :D I know I am fortunate to have lots of good mates, but you can only go so far on good will and team work. As for doing quite well...........thank you, but I need to learn how to drive quickly again :)

Thanks Paul. So far so good. I was asked to inspect another Compact for a mate who fancies racing next year, and I have to say that I think I prefer mine to the one that I went to look at. I couldn't drive this other one, but the bodywork on both is rather poor considering the value of the cars and the fact that they are 'only' 11 or 12 years old (or is that old these days?)

As the car stands now and in desperate need of a clean

I learned that is it Avus blue which was one of the M3 colours, so that's nice. The rust is still brown.............regular brown, not M3 brown :)

That's not a bad little motor Stu  It does look like it'll be hilarious when it's stripped and sorted. ;)

Again? ;)

Seriously though, I hope you roller paint it and chop holes in the wings a la Betty. Tbh if it cost peanuts to buy then why not?
I reckon it's gonna happen all over again. And I for one applaud you for that (if you do it). :coolgleamA:

Well done mate!:hurray: (Even if i missed a road trip.;)) Its about time you got mobile again as this years car tally was looking poor.:D
It doesn`t look that shabby from the pictures. I can only see some bubbling on the top of the n/s front arch the rest looks pretty brown free?:)
Are we going to see the before and after shots with your new-re found enthusiasm for detailing?

Aaron, not much, Hainualt (London innit) and to sod it up with a roller and drift it around the bends of Norfolk. (Maybe...)

A little brown on each of the front arch and one rear, a spot on one A pillar, leading edge of the roof and the typical bit by the boot.

Maybe before and afters but maybe I'll just skip to the roller :driving:

Russ

This years tally was (so far)
BMW 7 series, Merc A class, Renault Clio, Mazda MX5, VR6 Golf and now the current two. Not that bad mate.........admittedly most of them didn't work but all the same.

Excuse my earlier deleted rant for those that saw it :D
