So pleased your happy with the results Russ it does make a huge difference to the little 16v

Sorry I couldn't be there . Did you get a chance to look round the golf when you where down.?

I do have a set of lowered springs which came on the golf when I got it.

Its difficult for me to say exactly as i changed the whole injection system. I dont know if my system was buggered? or the difference is the WUR? Or its a bit of both? I know its a differnt car now.:)

Yeah the closest Ben gets to getting his hands dirty is getting grease on his hand from lifting his bike into his car :)

Right i spent bloody hours last night trying to get this post up but bloody photobucket was not playing then it all crashed and i lost the lot!:(
So here goes again albeit a little briefer.
Boxing day i decided i was going to do the welding work on the golf. I knew the sills were getting flakey in a couple of places due to having been jacked up in the wrong places over the years and crushing the sill lips. I started on the drivers side and removed the side skirt. A good prod with the screwdriver and this is what i found.....
Image
It was kind of what i was expecting.
Then i couldn`t help myself buy removing flacky under seal from the floor.
Then i found this bit...
Image
Bollocks I thought!
Time to get chopping the rot out.
I apologise for the extra crap pictures even by my standards, I did take more but that was all i could up load last night and im not even going to try tonight.
Image
I welded 2mm plate into the front jacking point
Image
I then rust treated the whole lot, seam sealered it, cavity waxed it and finnished off plastic gaurding (like shultz only more rubbery!:)) it so hopefully by the time its weathered down no one will be able to tell it was ever messed with?
Image
After spending two days doing that i was going to do the near side today. I took the side skirt off.......saw more rust, Then went and fixed the ariel instead!:D

I did photo the arches, They are perfect which quite surprised me.
I do recon all the rot has come from poor jacking.
Have you still got your 16v?
