IWent to a One Republic gig and they did a decent cover of this , not sure if the Beastie Boys are classed as old rap though . Pete

Doesn't get much better than this...

Just fucking outstanding

PS

Stick on some decent phones before listening to the above, the scratching alone demands it!

One of the better 'proper' hip-hop tunes of the era IMHO

A probable re-post but I don't think I've ever seen it in such high quality so forgive my endulgence :)

Seriously guys.........this masterpiece is 25 years old! The DJ, Eric B, is so crisp and sharp with his beats and scratching, the MC, Rakim oh so slick and flooooooowwwwwwwwssssss with no swearing or subsequent loss of credibility

Most of what i know about hip hop/rap comes from listening to late night radio in my garage back in the late 80's early 90's , so i like the pre 50 cent stuff . Apart from the Beastie Boy's stuff i can remember the early NWA and Cypress Hill tracks , and although i prefered the indie music i always thought the hip hop back then was pretty funky .Pete:Chevy_anim:

I know Ollie's favourite song is that Brian Adams thing that was number 1 for like 3 years , not sure about Sean but i don't think it would be by NWA . As for the dark horse thing i have a liking for punk aswell but then i was 12 or 13 when it first appeared . If i could find some decent Wire video's i'd put some up .
This is another one i liked which is a bit more radio friendly .Pete
