Difficult choice 911 or 500SL , been looking at the classic car ads and i can't decide . I guess its down to what the car is going to be used for as the 911s are more sporty and the Mercs are better cruisers , you,ll just have to bite the bullet and test drive some . I got the chevy because i liked playing with engines the chevy v8 has a near limitless supply of tuning goodies . Personally if i didnt have the Camaro i would have liked a 1970s 240Z .Pete
No I don`t hate 944`s! What i hated was the fact that everything with mine was so expensive to fix for an old clunker. I didn`t like paying nearly what the car was worth each time it went wrong. If it had been a "proper" porsche like a 911 i would have understood it.Stuart wrote: (Russ hates 944's by the way...........)
Christian, You would have my full respect if you bought either a "yuppie" spec whale tailed 911 or an SL. Being able to afford to buy and run either is a very enviable situation mate.

I know where there is one of these in rare right hand drive (only 18 made of which only 6 came to the uk)

Some interesting stuff there cheers. And I too love those Martini 911s - had an r/c one when i was a nipper and loved it!
I've been mulling it over over the long weekend and am still none the wiser really. The idea is for a sound investment that will hopefully appreciate or at least not depreciate and also be a bit of fun - definately no tuning/modding etc as the GTR has appetitie enough for that. But the classic car market seems to only be going one way at the moment.
I think the 911 is the safer bet but it's a big chunk of change, could get an SL privately for under

Ha ha!
have fun mate.......it is always nice to peruse cars for sale. With a budget and criteria like yours, it must be a real problem for you

If and when you define what you're interested in I'll be happy to look for you. I probably have a lot more spare time than you do

can enjoy riding them and even manage to get somewhere near their (i mean my) limits........all adds to the fun

944s are ok nice car it`s just the ridiculously expensive running/repair cost that can go with their ownershipStuart wrote:PS- currently looking at either an old Mercedes again or a 944 Porsche! (Russ hates 944's by the way...........)
Just research you understand as I am enjoying no work far too much to have to earn money for a bloody car!
One to consider maybe?
