Mate, when you drive an old GTR as hard as you do, who gives a fuck about whether it looks 'drift' or not :D I hope the rear edge being lifted has the desired effect; RK said he was unsure back in the day about any merits but I would have thought that it can't do any harm........

Good luck with the move mate  Still in the smoke?

Good Points all, but I do still want it looking :coolgleamA:

It is debatable. My understanding is that it's a "dead" area for air at the base of the screen when going forward, hence the drifters do it so air escapes when sideways. However, it must let air out regardless of being "dead" or not so I thought worth a shot. We tried it with the airline and I could feel some. All I need is Gareth and Ben at the end of the straights with their cameras

Yep, not going far at all. However, I will finally have the space for all my toys :cheers2: Estate Agents thought i was mad when i always wanted to look at the garages first

As a petrol head surly a "play pen" is far more important than the bit where you eat, sleep and go poop?:D

Estate Agents don't "get" it bud, and the days of them driving M3s are long gone so they can't even pretend to be petrol heads :D

Got the new seats today which was exciting. Went for Cobra Evo Pro S in the end. The reason for the change was that much as the Sparcos were great seats, when i bough them my priority was a bigger seat as the old ones used to make me go numb :D

However, I always found that with the G's the GTR generates in the corner that they were lacking in shoulder support which became noticable the more relaiable the car got so the more I pushed on.

I chose these cobra's as Daz has one in his scoob and it'sa good fit. I did try a few other but came back to these so hopefully they'll do the job.

Anyway, some pics

Did you get any more info regarding the Michelin slicks and why they weren't up to much chief?

I've spent most of the evening trying to get as much info on tyre comparisons 888's, P Zero's and Silverstone FTZ and it's a minefield of confusion

If I remember correctly mate, you're running 18's? I think I'm going to stick with the drop down to 17's which so far gives me maximum of 275 on the rear (and maybe 225/235 front)

Are you looking to revert back to using 888's from now on?

and forgot to ask about what about what options you've been using over the years, wet and dry
[img] Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with....Ray Mears or Bear Grylls?

A. No question....Ray Mears....you could make a shit load more stew out of that tubby little fecker [/img]

No further on than than last post on the subject chief. Basically the mich's aren't up to the job as they're off a 911 so front compound not designed for weight of a front engine and drive, and rears similarly not designed for the power. Basically the gtr sits between 2 classes in the GT3s and is the weight and power of the big cars but can only take tyres off the small ones so I'ma bit fooked. Avon have suggested a compund to try so i might give it a try next year.

But in the meantime I'm going to stick with 888s I think, or maybe try the silverstones - speak to fast eddy on here for prices as he quoted me well for them. From the research i did, which mainly turned out to be US 911 forums they are all fairly similar and although I was tempted to try some yokohamas (to match my sunstrip :o) ) i cant see that they justify the price from what I've read. I've always found the 888s to be consistent and although i cant compare wear to other road "slicks" from what people say they are up there too.

I hear what you're saying mate, it's a tough one if you're sitting between two classes effectively

My mate Jamie has advised that he occassionaly uses Hoosiers (I think that's how it's spelt) an American brand from what I know. He runs a few porkers but swears by 888's as a more cost effective option for his Radical....I'll be honest though I didn't even know that Toyo made tyres that small

anyway the Silverstones look like they might be worth a punt as far as full slicks go and maybe 888's as a compromise

Fuck knows what I'll end up running for wets...not that they'd get much use as I'll be in the gravel by the second bend anyway!

You're still running 18" Rota's aren't you mate?

Silverstone do a 888 rival not just slicks that are worth a look, cant remember the name. I've got about 4 sets of wets from the zed days, mich, pirelli and avon, dont waste your money as i've never used them. My plan is that if i do run slicks the 888s/equivalent will suffice as wets for tracl use I'm making at the moment, again, I've been impressed with the 888s in the wet anyway.

Hoosiers are US and i have two brand new ones, but they're massive, were for the back of the zed. However, as in the intro "brand new" I couldn't comment as never used 'em. More ebay fodder if I can be arsed...

yeah 18's

I hadn't seen the semi slick Silverstone option and fast eddy's came up in the search funnily enough

Silverstone RR's (semi slicks)

Silverstone FTZ's (slicks)

I remember reading in the 2012 tyre regs for TA that the 1b brand tyre had to be the same throughout the season (could be changed once)....I assume I could change the style of tyre as long as the manufacturer was the same (ie. could I run Silverstones throughout and switch between the slicks/semi slicks listed above as and when)? That's how I read it..
