First Track Day Advice
See a car at Cadwell come in apply handbrake, 20 mins later after everything had cooled and gone back to its normal size it rolled into a portacabin!

" Uh Betty you should of seen this car in Ely today!! it had stickers and stripes
all over it, and when it started up, the noise!!!, I could feel my teeth rattling!!!"
Some very sound advice from experienced TD addicts for my tuppence worth keep an eye on the Rev Counter those runways are super long and there is nothing to give an impression of speed so it is easy to keep the right foot hard down ideally lift off half way down, coast for a few moments and then bring it back up to speed again.
Do watch your speed approaching corners at end of runway (nothing to give an impression of speed) and above all enjoy yourself

Thanks everyone for the advice, the main things I will be taking on board is, dont be a hero, take it slow and take bits like oil and coolant etc! I think I will look to get some passenger rides just get a feel of everything and trying to relax. (Which will be hard as I have been gearing up for this for about 6 months)
Lol I am skint, but pm me how much!john B wrote:Personally I think the best advise is stay on the grey / black bit and avoid the green bits :-)

As well as checking your car...dom187 wrote:Got my first track day in my RX7 at RAF Marham, I have been on a trackday once but this is the first one when I am alone in my own car. Just looking for any advice/tips really.
Cheers
1) Let your tyres warm up for at least 1-2 laps
2) Don't go crazy on the last session of the day - that's when you'll stack it
3) If you don't think you're going to make a corner, try anyway - you'll probably be surprised.
4) Drink lots of water.

Got a couple of questions, all my gear that I will be taking... Seat, tools, back to front helmet, spare boxers etc do I stick them in my boot?!
Can I just go round on the day asking for passenger rides?
What should I cover the car with to stop stone chips?
Again, thanks for all the comments I am taking lots of notes!

Normally where the cars are you put the tools etc next to them, it is better if you are going with a group as there is usually someone in the pits whilst you are out. That said when Ben and I went last time we left our stuff in a pile and nobody nicked anything.
Do not keep them in the boot whilst driving round the track
People use masking tape but multiple layers to cover the bumper fronts / bonnets.
