Scott's Celica

Post by scotty dog »

Hi all not really a build thread but more of a mod thread.
Picked up my T sport celica quite some time ago and here it is when i picked it up.

First thing on the list was to get rid of those heavy 18" Lenso alloys in favour of some much lighter volks te37's.
Image

Also got myself a few parts off a rare japanese TRD Sports M Celica including the TRD exhaust sytem and rear strut brace and also fitted some TTE lowering springs for the time being.

Also got bored of the blueness

End result... One celica painted in Honda Championship white

After a few months of waiting about finally got these through the door just wanting to get them fitted now!
Some Stage 2 cams, valve springs and titanium retainers

Thats how it stands at the present.

My to do list :

I have some ST205 4 pot front calipers to go on but just havent got round to finding the right size disks yet.

Order an Apexi Power FC ECU and tune it

Coilovers at some point too

I'm hoping with the cams and the power fc tuned to hit the 200HP mark and once the brakes are sorted think I'll have myself a nice little track toy!
Has surprised quite a few things out on the road!

All comments welcome, hope to try get to a few meets before summer ends!!!

Looking nice mate, always a very understated car and the design if a bit marmite. Plus I guess after the last few models having a 'GT4' version it wasn't as popular.

Liking the Volks and the respray. Will the cams make the idle lumpy ?

Thanks, I would love an st205 but atm this is my daily and I do a 60 mile round trip to work so couldnt justify the fuel costs :(
The cams will make the idle a bit rougher but they're designed to improve the mid range power at about 5-6000 rpm as this is where the engine looses power just before 'vvtL-i' kicks in. (toyota's vtec).

I was planning some mods to my Celica Tsport, that was until I blew the bottom end a month ago. It is goosed and the price of the used engines puts repair way past the value so I am currently breaking it.

Cams are great in these engines to take out the flatspot before the lift. This is also wise before moving onto a Rotrex SC ;-) A nimble little car that loves to scream.

I will watch your build thread a little envious.

Very nice - best choice in wheels imho :) - and much nicer in white. Do think the TE37's will look nicer in a dark gunmetal.

Looks very nice in white. I agree with Ben though the wheels would look better in gun metal.

Nice car that and a brave man launching into a home brew paint job on a 53 plate :D (Fair play). I really like the car in white and that colour with bronze is great. I look forward to seeing this project move forward
