SOLD - MK3 Golf VR6 track-day car

Post by slaphead »

Sadly for sale due to changed circumstances my MK3 Golf VR6 track-day car - only used once in anger (honest!)

Built in 1996 not taxed or tested - currently on a sorn.

Sprayed very very badly in eye-catching P155 Yellow (RAL 911) anyone on track would have to be clinically blind to miss it (that was the idea as the missus was going to be driving it) :biggrinjester: .

What can I say about her - she came to me with a blown lump and body mods (dents) from a loony Italian about 4 years back, since then I have fitted a replacement lower mileage engine, replaced the gearbox and selector linkage - the grill was removed and replaced with mesh job. The shocks were then replaced with with JOM adjustable height coil-overs and the car was set as low as it was possible so as not to rip off the sump when passing over anything bigger than an ant, works well on track (rather too low for road use assuming you want to put her back on the road).

Good points

  • Body isn't too bad virtually no rust - dents were sorted as well etc
  • plastic trim removed and smoothed over
  • engine is as smooth as silk
  • starts first time (hadn't run her since Aug 10 started 1st go with a fresh battery)
  • comes with a spare gearbox
  • a spare gear selector unit with cables (common fault floppy gear change apparently)
  • has the complete kit to change the head gasket including bolts and special tool (cam holder)
  • JOM coil-overs
  • currently fitted with BBS alloys
  • has a spare set of GTI wheels
  • quick release bonnet clips
  • mesh grill
  • spare set of original vw front pads
  • still has the original interior fitted not in bad nick
  • Has steering boss adaptor to fit a MOMO or similar wheel
Bad points

  • The worlds worst paint job - paint runs - chips etc - it was sprayed - just very badly
  • could do with a good clean both inside and under the bonnet - been sat for 22 months!
  • sunroof is stuck - cracked open slightly
  • she's got 4 doors
  • air bag is disabled
  • will need a battery
What do I want for this prime piece of German engineering?

Given the coil overs cost me
