Cheers stu.
Was a general query as its usually the cabrio/hard top debate i thought if there was a difference with performance wagons over coupe/saloon models and their looks.
Think i am heading towards either another A4 1.8 turbo but quattro or for a change an impreza.
I like the look of the wagons but got used to saloons now.
If i went wagon i must say it would be the legnum VR4. i had a galant V6 estate and always looked back at it when i parked it up...... not many of my cars have done that to me......
Should also mention the E36. Having had a 325i sport after the skyline i dont fancy such a big thirsty engine. love my turbos too much for day to day....
estate vs saloon?

An E36 with a six cylinder should be more economical to run than most turbo cars, four cylinder VAG excepted. I don't want to get into a running costs comparison thread (seriously boring) but I see no reason why any Jap turbo would be cheaper than an inline six sans turbo.......makes no sense.
One point you made above......don't forget that your quattro will cost a fair chunk more than your fwd to run, probably not far off of the running costs of Jap stuff.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
