I finished 3rd in class, which was last, only 1 other car double driven. I basically drove like a granny as everytime I hit the brakes the car locked up! Not nice. Been doing some reading up tonight on Clio rear brake compensator. My bet is my rear brakes arenn't actually doing a thing! so fronts lock up easy.

Lee had the same issue.

He was in a class of his own:p

Welcome to the world of NO abs! or my number 1 excuse of `09 season!
So does this mean the clio will now be facing early retirement? It must have felt slightly fustrating knowing you had the perfect wepon back home, But no competition to run with?

I've had no ABS before, this was just silly how easy it locked up. Ie with hardly any braking force, then only way to get it to unlock was to completely back off pedal and back on.

My bet is that the compensator is foobarred and siezed. and also its sat too low so not allowing enough droop thus locking up the N/S front wheel very easy.

Tyres are near new Toyo T1-r's, new discs and pads all round with DS2500's at the front. so everything on the face of it should be hunky dory.

Yup, gutted with the weather and not running the Evo but thats how it goes.

PS. wanna buy it Russ??? ;)

I cruised home for the win, tunes on and windows down!
After seeing my only rivel take out the tyre wall i didnt see the need to do the same.

Just looked under the clio as using it for work this week while some parts turn up for the missis mini, the load sensing valve is fitted but has no linkege, spring or rod. i guess its just the housing so dont see how it can be faulty!!!!!

Lee, be interesting to see if the rear brakes lock if you jack it up and get someone to press the peddle. Lots of peeps on ClioSport have the same issue. and inside the valve siezes up and restricts fluid flow or the valve assy itself hangs down lower that when new thus reducing braking force.

Good trick is if you have access to MOT station to change position on the assy with ty-wraps and check on a brake compensator. Then if it feels better you could always retro fit a rod/spring from a standard 172.

I'm gonna have a look at mine, as reckon it can be way better than it is at the moment. No matter how light the rear of them are, it still needs to brake!
