MLR Sprint Series 2012, Rd 2: Oulton Park

Post by Danny@APT »

The official MLR Promotional video has just been released for the previous round at Oulton Park on their rally (low grip tarmac) circuit-

I'll get round to a write-up ASAP, plus I'll stick up our in-car vids featuring Chris and Gary.

That looks so much more professional than running between a sea of cones

No Ross or Gary though, despite them putting a camera on Tony's rally car at one point.

Chris' VII is featured a few times, and I'm even in it without driving!

April 21st, and the day started with a likely chance of rain, which would've made the unique rally tarmac even more greasy to drive on than it already was. But for the time being, it remained relatively dry and the morning practice runs began.

Gary spent his time giggling like a child while merrily throwing Tony's already-battered rally car about, Ross was crawling about at the bottom of the timesheet trying to understand the best way to drive the circuit without wrecking the 'X, and Chris was taking it slow and steady as he built-up confidence in getting the car sideways, but under control.

Lunch-time came, and the Sprint Organiser's decided the ever-present dark clouds threatening to drop their load meant it would be wise to skip the food and dive straight-in to ensure everyone got at least one dry run.

After a couple of runs each, things began to get interesting, with Gary, Ross and Chris all posting times within tenths of each other which created a lively contest between the three seeing as an outright win was unlikely. :D

Unfortunately we never got round to putting the camera in Ross' Evo, and I got held-up repairing another car, so it was left to Chris to swap the camera between cars. With the quick turn-around we lost track of what runs were recorded, but I combined one of Gary's and Chris' goes into one vid- the quickest ones weren't recorded.

In the end, it was Ross who pipped Gary in the inter-APT/Rosssport/Sausage-fingers battle by 0.5 seconds on his final do or die run. :D

Should be fine this weekend at Blyton- we've got my GoPro, Logan should have a loaned Video Vbox, and Gary's got the MoTeC Video camera in the APT Evo (if he has time to get it working).

I just wish I had the time and the talent to do something special with the vids like the MLR Promo's.
