Accident Injury Claims

Post by blacky »

Right, wondering if anyone on here has any info/experience of the above.

Basically, I was involved in an accident on Sunday afternoon where a car rammed into the back of me and my 2 yr old in the truck.

Person who crashed into me admitted liabilty so no issues there. So, got a call today regards injury claims. I do have a slighty stiff neck and upper back. The wee man had slight limp that I think might of been from his seat moving and his fet hitting the seat in front. Heard loads of bad stuff about these types of companies in the past.

On the phone they all made it sound reasonably easy, and doesn't affect 3rd parties insurance as the cash is already released from some general insurance fund and they reckoned that if I don't try and claim it then it'll just go into some insurance big wigs coffers.

Is this true? I'm not one to try and milk the system but is it worth while? Or should I just take the slight stiffness and get on with it or try and claim?

I'm afraid I don't buy into the claim for anything society, I just don't think there is any, well honour in it. So I would not claim.

Your body has taken a heck of an unexpected jolt and its only a few days afterwards, could take a bit longer to get back to normal.

What do you expect to get from it ? Will a small bit of cash make any difference ?

Just my 2p, I could tell you to man up :)

Speaking from past experience.....It is a bit of an issue and it annoys me when people make silly claims just for the sake of it......

I have been hit twice straight in the back the first incident I was hit at approx 50mph when I was stationary and suffered whiplash and severe bruising but this was before the PI claim was common practice, and the second I was side swiped on both occasions I was the innocent party.

on the second incident a few days after the accident was suffering with extreme neck ache and sore shoulder and back....after check ups at hospital etc
I went to have some treatment at my own expense at an ostiopath.....but after about 8 treatments was not getting any better and was costing me a packet....so I made enquiries via a Norwich Solicitor who specialised in this field if I could "just claim my out of pocket expenses back" ?

Yes I could and much more.....they took ownership of the whole claim....and after nearly 2 years I recieved about

A chap the other day ended up having to pay the court costs because he lost as the chap that hit him ... at 3 miles per hour turned out to be an assessor for such injuries :) - the claimant ended up with a 7k bill.

Well serves him right for trying to decieve ! Shame a few more of the scamers don't get caught as we all pay the penalty for false claims !

No problem if it's genuine but screw the scammers........its only the lawyers that get rich......

Cheers for the replies

as said in first post, I'm not one to milk the system etc. But was just asking for advice on this issue as don't want to say 100% no then regret it if I have long term neck/back pains, as being self employed if I do have to get treatment etc then it will come cost be a decent whack having to take time off etc.

Was more wondering if anyone had had first hand experience with these PPI companies as I've never been in this situation before.

As John said, maybe worth me waiting for a couple of weeks and then seeing how I feel.
