Engine Serial Numbers

Post by Harry »

Does anyone know how to determine the year of manufacture of a Subaru EJ20 engine, a new engine was fitted to my car a few years ago, circa 2005 with low mileage (40,000 Kilometers) and I want to replace the L?H Rocker cover gasket to stop an oil leak so I need to establish the year of manufacture to ensure I get the correct gasket set

Thanks for any input

Harry that will give you the code for the engine that was in it jap engines don't come with any codes on them the engine was from a 95 if i remember correctly

i changed those gaskets before when i rebuilt it for mike s you just ask for the gasket for a 92 / 95

Hope that helps mike

Thanks Mike, I was a little concerned at it`s age as it was such low mileage when installed in the car, now I can get busy getting it repaired and hopefully do the car justice at Snetterton
