This is fast becoming a fucking joke and makes me want to sell up and walk away from it all.
Yesterday Alan came over to collect the car to take it to have a few jobs done.
1. Replace the EGT sensor
2. Fix the shift light as it's not working
3. Carry out dunk tests on expansion tank (for any signs of brown colouring to water)
4. Change alternator belt
5. Fit new inlet cam
6. Re map
The car is now back home.
1. Not Done
2. Not Done
3. Done, after 60 mile road trip, all clear. After 3 sessions on dyno and still all clear.
4. Not Done
5. Done
6. Done
Gains, 7 bhp. What a fucking waste of money and time. The spec of this engine we should now be pissing 420 bhp.
After fittting the cam we now appear to have an air leak on the inlet manifold which we will be trying to find and fix tomorrow.
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!!!!!!!!

Do you attribute your issues with the car to one factor? (time, money or tuner etc?) Harking back to past times, when things 'seemed' to be simpler is not always helpful Paul. Without knowing more about your thought on the root cause of the 'problem' it is difficult to be of much use, other than a sympathetic ear.
Dyno's, and I know we've been in this discussion before, are a useful tool for improvements but only if exactly the same criteria for back to back testing are used. With so many variables having a significant effect on output (especially at 400+) I would be far more interested in how it drives.
Look forward to hearing more about your thoughts Pabs.

Time and money are intrinsically linked; they always will be. I feel for your situation as a team and as an individual. Basing this project on the merits and values of a business is dangerous mate. I've owned and run businesses since '95 and can see no similarity between a business and running a performance car with many parts being developed or adapted to fit your particular requirements. Actually, scratch that, I can see one common factor- poor communication. Poor communication hamstrings businesses and leads to all sorts of woes, much as poor comm's. does with a project build such as this. If you, Al and the tuner (can't remember his name, sorry) don't really get to grips with each others objectives and priorities then you will face the same issues that any other partnership does (marriage, business, race team etc etc)
What could your tuner do to make you happy?
What timescale is involved?
Do you and Al share your concerns?
Is the tuner fully aware of your concerns?
Only once you've established that little lot (and a lot more besides) will you move closer to a successful resolution. Good luck. It can be achieved and you can get the outcome that you want, but it will take very clear communication and a lot of trust and honesty.
I hope you take my comments with the respect and friendship I have for you guys. In my opinion the answer is pretty clear but then I only have a limited grasp of what's happened, and one side of the whole story.
