I seem to remember back in the day that people modified the 1.7 lump out of the 21s (Also used in the mk2 5 Monacco edition) with the turbo and gubbins from the GT. That would be stronger surely? (Albeit like rocking horse poo)

sounds like alot of effort rob, plus my new liner/piston set and other gubbins have already turned up so its staying 1.4 for now

crank goes in for machining tomorrow then hopefully pick that and the long list of parts from renault the following saturday

the head is going to slow me down the turn around time is looking about 3 weeks atm :(

block is painted a lovely black and looking sexy. I will get some decent photos using the slr this time

Took the crank, rods, liners/pistons and flywheel down to the machine shop this morning. Going to Polish the crank/grind if needed, fit the rods to the pistons, skim the flywheel and quite possibly have it all balanced up with the clutch cover etc.

The shop recon they might be able to source me some acl bearings which if they can get them i'll be using them otherwise i'll stick with renault bearings something with some quality that lasts.
Pretty much laid down the rule of... no more cheap shit that lasts 5 minutes on this engine now... it will not go bang again! fingers crossed

Goodies from CGB, rods, chain, tensioner, gasket, water pump bolts, uprated fuel pump liners, pistons

Then my order from renault came in, Mostly bolts, nuts, gaskets and a new rocker cover as mine had been crushed and wouldnt seal properly
