The Saxo
Thanks for the comments guys ;-)

OK the shakedown ;-)
The day started well, I was nervous about the amount of snow still around and when it started to snow on the journey there I was thinking what the hell am I doing !! it only lasted 5 mins so I thought what the hell and carried on my 1.5hr journey in the slowest transit ever however this was probably a good thing lol
As for the track I was Very impressed buy the amount of work that had gone into clearing it, they salted it Saturday night and was out sweeping from 6.00 to keep it ice free, it was nice and dry and the level of grip was a lot better than I had imagined I know its their business but hats off to them I say.
The Saxo, well its fun
:D
The car handled like it was on rails over steering on corner entry, and under steering on the exit, fairly normal I think:willy_nilly:
My brakes lasted about 2-3 laps before they became useless and by lunch they were totally fucked.
My rear wheel bearings were nice and quite in the morning and noisy by the afternoon:(
There is defiantly a lot of room for improvement!! I defiantly have to have new brakes, still unsure what direction to go in this matter.
I defiantly need some sticky tyres, 888,s or I might try some rb5's or something along those lines. I might change my coilover spring rate lower or get larger torsion bars however I think I will probably wait till I have done another track day with sticky tyres and a little better weather ;-)
one item that I think I could have done with was a lsd, I don't think there was a corner out there, that I couldn't wheel spin out of, if I came off line or tried to push to hard to early:banghead:
but after all of the above I still had a really great time with some awesome driving, well I thought I was awesome even if no one else did
My friend Paul came with me as a second driver, he has never been on a track before and he had a superb time also I think he may have caught the bug...lol
I'm going to do another trackday around the beginning of April, and once I can sort out work, I hopefully will be able to make the rolling road and bring up the rear ;-):smilielol5:

Cheers eddy I have been told that 406 hdi brakes will fit but I'm not sure what size i can go up to I still want to keep my wheel size 15".Fast Eddy wrote: I have a customer with a track Saxo. I think he has 206 Gti brakes up front as an upgrade.

Thanks fella your car was looking good ;-) are you running standard callipers?philwright63 wrote:I used to run the 266mm upgrade from the 206 gti on my old 106 gti. They are a good upgrade, but i find that standard discs and carbon loraine rc6 pads are much better. I was in the yellow vtr at snetterton.

Thanks guys, I have set it so it's connected to my cda filter, however I have it disconnected when the weathers bad. it may not look good but it works and sounds awesomeRob S wrote:Love the modified wing

Glad the car went OK; what's next for the mighty Saxo?

Thanks fella your car was looking good ;-) are you running standard callipers?
Glad you enjoyed yourself, the snow was a little daunting! Yesh shes getting there now thank you! Yeah standard callipers, stock hatch doesnt allow upgraded callipers. I honestly wouldnt change them now anyway, the carbon loraine pads have made such a difference its unbelievable! Definately get some r888's or yoko a048's best thing ive ever bought, they'l cut down on a lot of spinning up out of the corners aswell.
As for caliper size i believe on 15" rims you can go to a 283mm disc which are gti-6 callipers or 406 v6 brembo calipers.

I have Silverstone FTZ RR in stock. As good as 888 or 048 and a bit cheaper. Alternatively go for the federal RS-R which is a great track tyre and more road/rain friendly than the 888, 048 and FTZ RR.
