Mine wasn't because of choppiness though Ben, it was pixelation on the vid.

MP4 isn't widely recognised as a vid to edit which is exactly as it comes out of the camera. You should convert it to a MOV file and this should be fine to edit it. With mine I have converted to a MOV file using an Appleprores codec, edited it in Final Cut then exported it from Final Cut back to an MP4 file and into Quicktime to convert to an avi file....phew still with me :)

I've tried 1080 footage and not had a problem running it or editing it but I have converted it first. Before then it was a nightmare. That said I'm running it on a Mac rather than a PC.

I'm currently running a Sandisk Class 4 card, but I've got a class 10 coming as I wondered if it may be a card issue, though GoPro themselves say 4 and above is ok.

Not sure if it's a problem with my laptop, as it seems to meet the requirements on Cyberlink's site. Currently running-

Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 @ 2GHz
3GB RAM (though I know Vista eats into this- I plan to increase it)
32-bit OS (CPD10 specs list 3GB RAM recommended, 64-bit needs 6GB)
ATi/AMD Mobility Radeon HD 3650

Tried the software from GoPro for converting the footage (cineForm Studio?)- errors when installing saying it couldn't find files, then instantly crashes when starting, so I gave up on it.

Only recorded in R3 so far... not sure I like the wide "fish eye" angle though. R4 is 4:3, so not ideal, and R5 is probably a little better with the narrower angle, but 1080p.

3GB of RAM Danny, no wonder you are having problems !! Vista is a memory whore !! Definitely upgrading that should be your first port of call.

Cheers for the recommendation A2ON re cards as I haven't bought the replacements ones yet.

I do all my film editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Can sort you out a copy of APP3 if you want?

Interestingly, just tried running the footage through Quicktime (more native for the .MOV/MP4 stuff) and it plays silky-smooth with no choppy sound, so it's definately more of a software/decoder-related issue.

What is it like to edit with? I'm used to Windows Movie Maker, and if I could get a suitable codec that would get it to handle H.264 like Quicktime does, I would probably find it enough for what I want. It's why I was hoping the trial version of Cyberlink would allow me to see how my system would cope.

Awesome lol!

Its a professional program, I've only just started to play around with it so can do basic stuff, cutting and editing, music over, transitions & some overlays etc.

Can handle all types of files etc.

I had to watch a few annoying tutorial on youtube to begin with!!
