306 GTi6? What else? (Which cheap track car)
Yeah, but you probably didn't have a crash helmet onRob S wrote:Not wishing to point out the obvious, but if I drove one............

EP3's are over budget and that's before you still doing any work to them. I have looked at the VR6's but I'd only buy one with a fair amount of work done to it (coilovers, exhaust, brakes etc) E30 325's done are things to beholdIan200sx wrote:my vote 325i I liked the estate e30 325 more than the vr6 but thats a fwd v rwd thing, vr6 hasn't missed a beat in 2/3 years! I don't know power to weight stuff but ep3 r's are getting cheap and accord r's seem ok.

They may be but I just couldn't face buying something like that, for track work or anything else.Fast Eddy wrote: MGZS V6 is a performance bargain.

Opinions based on my ownership and track use.
Mk2 golf, loved the bigpower shed i owned for a short period ( kick myself for not buying it from james ) cheap as chips to run, great retro ride , to get the full experiance need to be on track with a few buddies in the same vehicles
Ford focus 1.8 zetec v reg standard road car apart from a set of r888 when on track , brilliant standard chassis ,good at a twisty circuit like cadwell, it had the living crap thrashed out of it whenever i used it and never missed a beat in fact the only thing it missed was maintenance
trouble was it never stirred any emotion when i looked at it .
Bmw e36 325 , has delivered everything i have asked from it and more, only real gripe is the only way for budget power is an engine swap ,over 300hp is mega buckos , it makes me smile when i see it
All i would say is buy a car that you like ,one that you want to own, you can make virtually anything track ready ffs eddy drives a bloody rapid metro of all things .
best of luck with your search, be good to see you back on track mate .

That is bloody cheap! But being totally OCD about all things clio:D I can spot even from the rather poor photos that the bonnet to wing/headlight gap isn`t quite right? But could be sorted out possibly quite easy. Also if it has been fitted with a cheap pattern part bonnet it will be rotten on the inside from a 2007 re-build.Ian200sx wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-RENAULT- ... 4ab30de60d
If its been fixed properly its a good buy. Ditch the fly-by-wire and fit throttle bodies and have some fun.
You know the score mr S, If its of any interest you know where to find me!;)
Good advice Jason. I suppose the point of the thread was to make sure I hadn't overlooked any choices. My biggest problem is impatience. I know that is a childish trait, but what can I say.........I think the key to this is buying something that is really similar in performance to mates who are circuit driving in 2012.
