There's always a smug feeling to be had when "an old banger" comes up trumps like this.
Glad it worked out for you mate!
E36 Shed
I had a bit of a look at the old shed today.
I thought I would investigate why it was handling like a sack of soggy shite and discovered that one of the track rod ends is shot and the front shocks are decidedly tired and would definitely benefit from being replaced. Ebay here we come
I still haven't had time to look at the hesitation problem yet but that is scheduled for the weekend after next.
Oh the joys of owning a shed

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
In your shoes mate, I would be prepared to spend some time in this thing before your only means of sorting it is throwing cash at it. Suspension is easily sorted and the hesitation is likely to be the MAf or the coilpacks, as you probably already know. The only reason I say 'get stuck in' is that I've been in your place before; more than once. I failed to make the effort and eventually had no choice but to pay someone else to sort it out, as I couldn't be arsed. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to get excited about it.
Best of luck.........at least those bits above needn't cost a lot.

I hear ya big man
The plan was to spend this weekend "getting stuck in" as Sarah was supposed to be at work all weekend but she ended up having the weekend off sick so I only got a couple of hours today to play around with it.
I am working next weekend and then helping my daughter move house again the weeknd after but I should get the whole day on it on that Sunday so things should move along a bit then.
I use the car quite a bit at the moment so I am getting to know it quite well and running up a list of things that I want to do to it
. If the weather stays kind to us I should get quite a bit of time on the weekends from then on to get some things sorted and get it how I want it.
Fingers crossed

Right, as I have been off for the last couple of days with a dodgy leg
I have done some work on "the Shed" today.
I have replaced all the shocks and springs with some height adjustable "TuningArt" ones.

Replaced both inner and outer tie rods.

As you can see it now sits lower and is quite a bit stiffer. It also has a wee bit of camber on the front
. I still need to get the tracking set up properly as I have just set it roughly with a tape measure from wheel to wheel but that can be done tomorrow
Next thing to do is get some tyres on it that match. ( the ones on it at the moment are all completely different from each other
Then we shall see what else needs doing. Probably bushes I should think as it was stood for so long that they are a tad tired anyway.
I also cleaned the MAF with brake cleaner but it doesn't seem to have helped the hesitation so I think the next option is to try another one and then coil packs.
I will sort it!!!!!!
oh and I still need to get the exhaust "fettled"
