I guess we are all in a pretty similar position lots of desire but little cash, I need to do some work on my Scoobie for next year but as money is tight I need to target my spend to give the best return.
I want to keep the power output as it is now 271 bhp so I wont look at engine upgrades but I do want to get a bit more out of the old girl on track without sacrificing the road going qualities therefore the upgrade needs to take this into account.
Below is the specification of the car as it is now with one exception the ECU has been upgraded by Racedynamics to smooth out the power delivery.
Subaru impreza silver 4 door 1995 spec as follows.
alloy bonnet
p1 lip spoiler front bumper
front mount intercooler
alloy pulleys
lightened flywheel
recent new clutch
4 pot Subaru brakes/ braided lines
leda adjustable suspension 2 1/4
strut brace
td05 turbo
full 3 inch Haywood and Scott system turbo back
mapped ecu with piggy back dastec 330 bhp
quick shift stick
17 inch gold oz wheels with new kumho tyres
v6 rear spoiler
standard interior
So that is the starting point and I DON`T want to spend more than
What Would You Spend It On

Have to agree with that.Mr Fletcher wrote:This is not meant to be a dig at all ,some pro tuition will gain you more than you realise out of what you already have.
I hired Maxx for the day at Snett and his tuition got me round quicker than an extra 100bhp+ ever could have. Money very very well spent.
Well quite spoiled for choice but each on their own makes sense however a common theme is forming "Instruction" I did quite a lot of Caterham days and whilst they use ARDS Instructors the training was aimed at being safe and to a degree defensive driving but I think it has stood me in good stead. I did receive some very solid advice from Maxx before I went off to play at Silverstone at the beginning of the year.
Wait loss made me chuckle, I have never been told I am overweight so nicely before Gareth.
Thanks for the nod towards the ARB TK, Logan it does have one fitted but the car does under-steer on very tight slow corners ( as Mike B almost found out at Snetterton) so I had better make sure it is still there the ARB not the understeer
Sticky tyres sounds good but this would be way over budget and I would be concerned that I might then enter the realms of severe "oil surge" which brings other costs to resolve
But thanks to everyone for their advice and any that follows, I will work out what to do and and carry the work out ready for next year
