Best or Fave Driving Roads

Just got back from a trip to Cumbria, there really are some fantastic roads up in that part of the world, but the best has to be the A686 to Penrith.

We'd been to visit Hadrians wall and a quick look at the map showed a twisty little road running back in roughly the right direction. What an awesome discovery. Mini Alpine switch backs, fast swoopy bits and drop dead gorgeous scenery, not that theres much time to take it in, unless you want to end up part of it.

If anyones up that way, you've got to give it a go. Even the big diesel barge was fun

When i go to Santa Pod i dont turn off past Cambridge to the A14 but carry on along the A428 , i find it a nice stretch of road as the A14 can be hideous sometimes . Pete:Chevy_anim:

hardknott pass in cumbria is entertaining

would not want to attempt it in winter though
