You were nt kidding mate!
The car has been suffering a bit of a misfire recently, and no amount of amatuerish HT lead twiddling has helped.
I removed the dizzy cap, and could see a very fine line crazing from the cap top to the bottom edge. So thinking a small crack could be the cause, I get another cap from Halfrauds of all places, and it does seem better. (Had the 19 year old assistant ask me if I was sure about the reg plate :) )
If it persists, I guess it'll be plugs and leads, but to make matters worse, it's intermittent, on different amounts of throttle, at different engine speeds.
I have found the air pipe between the MAF and the throttle body is cracked through age, and although not through, it is going to fail before long.
Also notice it's dropping water from the rad :( I found the bottom hose was a smidge loose, but time will tell if it's been an easy fix or there's more to it.
And lastly, I've noticed I've got some spits of water coming out of the exhaust, and due to a questionable thermostat/heater sender, although I'm fairly sure I have nt cooked it, I can't be 100%.
I'm hoping it's just where some water (rain) has gotten into the tailpipe after the monsoon this week, but the pessimist in me wonders in the dropping coolant levels and misfire could mean head gasket time :chop:

I'll hopefully find out in the week for sure, as I'd much rather spend money improving it rather than repairing it:willy_nilly:

Yesterday new Dizzy cap, still Kangarooing like...well...a kangaroo when warm :(
Got a new rotar arm, so we'll see if that helps ?
If the worst comes to the worst, I'll see about doing the head gasket (again) and other bits and bobs.
Anything less should be (relatively) easy to sort out.
Off to read Ye Olde Haynes manual to see where the fuel filter is....oh and MAF faults........and petrol pump.......and injectors.........lets face it, I need grown up help and will probably run to Dave like a big girls blouse!!
