tuesday i took the car over to streetracers to do some work to the car ready for ford fair this weekend, the plan was as per the list that paul posted.
got over to gordons for 7.30 and started the day as usual by having a cup tea and having a chat and he told me that he had double bad news last week 1. the yard were his unit is has been sold to some development company and is looking at somewere else to move to and 2. the house that he rents has been put up for sale so has to look for somewere else to live so over the 2 days i was there he was on the phone most the time trying to sort those 2 things out.
so i started working on the car
car before starting work
started off draining draining the oil and changing the oil filter and changed the oil preasure sender unit.
took off the down pipe, turbo, actuator and oil feed/return pipes
then covered the water pipe that runs over the manifold so it didnt heat the water up
fitted the wastegate and the turbo onto the car
realised the old oil return pipe did not fit onto the turbo as it was to short so spent time finding some pipes, flandge and measuring up the pipe, im really happy with it as it sits away from the turbo unlike the old that sat close
got our other down pipe and found some exhaust wrap to wrap round it and it looks really good when it was bolted up in the end.
however when i mated it up to the turbo the flange was to big so had to take it off the car and make a template of the back housing then send it off to a mate to make me a plate up. got it back then had to get a 2" long piece of pipe to weld onto the flange then the down pipe and refitted it.
everything bolted up
fitted the oil feed pipe and by god it sits high so lowered the bonnet down and we have a inch clearence to the bonnet.
also fitted new boost pipe from turbo to intercooler and a set of grey injectors to the car, when we started the car it was missfiring it turned out that i had over tightened the fuelrail which was causing this.
topped up the oil and after mapping put in the ceratec engine protection fluid.
car all done and back together.
on wednesday afternoon gordon started on the mapping and we had nothing but problem after problem short story is that the boost controller was playing up wouldnt hold boost, boost pipes i had not fitted right but the biggest problem by far was the heat gordons dyno rooms air temp sensor was reading 37degrees and humidity was a joke and the car would not boost beyond 20psi we tried everthing to cool the room down and even waited till 22.00 to map the car. in the end the car was mapped and gordon said on the way home accelerate the car through 2nd and 3rd and said see if the boost goes upto 24psi which it was set at.
final power run produced 357bhp at 20psi so i asked gordon if it does boost to 24psi what bhp will it make and his reply around 370+.
so on way home it it did make 24psi which i was relieved about.
got up this morning and on the floor i recieved this from Neil at FastFord magazine.

FastFord stand pass and 3 tickets wahoo.
on tuesday Neil gave me 2 track time tickets as well for the fastest ford section which i carnt wait for.
