Well my day staeted early for me as i had a 3 1/2 hour journey ahead of me up just before 4 and wonted to be on the road by 4.30, luckerly both my neighbourers are a bit mutten so once the trailer was hooked up to the X5 which was a god send on this journey.
No hassles on the journey apart from the sat nav wonted to turn me off towards peterbourogh and send me away i didn't know i thought the sat nav was just having a moment and ignored it and carried on the way i new up the A1, but have now found out its a less millage route but single lanes.
On the way was watching the skies it was getting dark then i'd turn another way and i was heading to lighter clouds then another dark again once i got on the once on the A153 it was heading light clouds.
On arrivall at the circuit russ and harry where already there and i was able to park on the paddock tarmac, Daves briefing's are the best quick straight to the point and get out there and play.
This was the first time at cadwell with the golf after its rebuild and the new engine few other mods done changed the spring rates to 550 rears and 450 fronts as the gti championchip cars run fitted new rear beam which i seam welded and has spherical bearings same as the fronts the last time i done cadwell was in the M3 so this would be interesting.
Out on track the golf was straight away at home, the only thing i hadn't done was getting the tracking reset as i run out of time and just set it up from measurements
but everything seemed pointing in the right direction so game on so flat out we go started to push the golf harder and harder going through charlies and into the goose neck and it is one of the best corners to get right.
Came in to give the old girl a check over all was tight so more fuel and off again this run didn't last as due to a incident with a vx in the middle of charlie's was coming through pretty quick and catching the vx 220 as he slowed and indicated he slowed alot quicker than i thought he would so i went a bit off line and just touched the edge of the grass at that was it, it started swapping ends very quickly thought this was it and i just let go of the steering wheel and it righted it self so in we came for a rest and calm down abit .
Felt sorry for russ no end of probs with the impreza which was getting sorted slowly and he was getting longer runs and harry was just going round and round with no probs dave once again set up some lovely food and drink again.
Had a lot of other excellent runs with other cars including arons vx but was to quick in a straight line for my n/a engine.
Just before lunch was going through barn onto the straight and went to grab 4th and there was a bang from underneath and total loss of gears so it was stuck in third, on inspection the golf had lost the bolt from the cable change, went and saw the marshall and went to try and find it and byn some miracle after about 2mins there it was waiting for me and the nut was still on top of the box. so a good quick fix then off for steak and ale pie chips beans and gravy.
But the best run was when i caught up with a guy with a 20v turbo mk2 and we where flat out for about 20 mins through the corners could gain loads of ground that i lost in the straights and we where getting faster and faster thought we would have got into a bit of trouble but every time we entered the mountain section they where looking to see if we where any closer, was the best trackday ive done i was trying to stay as close as i could through barn so he wouldn't get as far away done the straight but understeered off into a straw bail and the car was covered from front to back with the nylon scappings and hit it hard with the front wing as the bonnet was marked to.
Big thanks to dave open track russ and harry for great company.

Hey guys was a brilliant day, good to meet some of you. It was worth the long drive up from Kent.
Dave and the team at Opentrack always put on a good event.
As said above the standard of driving and track protocol was overall good, so it makes driving the in the event a pleasure.
Roll on the next event.

Evening Everyone !
Sorry it has taken a day or so to get on here and thank you all for taking park in the event.
It was from my point of a view a splendid day, no cues, good weather ( generally ) bar a shower, and most people were very well mannered on the track.
I think we had just three stoppages due to mechanical and a minor off by a car and that was about it to be honest.
A Great selection of Cars from Gtr's to Type'r' Honda's and everything in between, i tried to see everyone during the day at some point to say hi but i am sure i missed one or two of you but again just a big thanks you for the support you have given me with Opentrack, I see from Des's Post he wants me to invite more Caterhams :-) it's ok thanks.
Again Many thanks and when i get the link for the 3000 ! Photos i will pop it up.
Thanks again Dave
