Sounds like you and Bart had a pretty good time and there was I thinking "Fight Club" that you had been out in your suit again.
Look forward to the write up

After a hectic couple of days to get the car ready for 'Fight Club', we were all set and ready to go:). The weather hadn't been kind to use whilst trying to get things done but the forecast for the day was looking good.

The day itself I left mine at 6.30am to go and pick Alan up and soon as i got to the first junction I thought, 'bollocks'. The brake pedal was spongy:frown:. I prayed that it was a case of the new rear pads just needing to be bedded in, nothing i could do so i carried on. It then dawned on me that i hadn't heard from the doves and as we had changed the turbo this concerned me. So, i gave a little gas throttled off and yep....the doves had flown the coup. Oh shit....I tested it a couple more times on my way to the motorway and nothing. I pulled over just before joining the motorway for a frantic call to Alan. He said was nothing he could do now and we just have to speak to Gordon when we got there. This was starting to look all too familiar. On the short motorway journey I also noticed that we had NO BOOST:banghead:
At this point I was considering the option of going back to mine to collect the old turbo.

Once off the motorway I noticed that the doves had returned and that we now had boost:nod:. So on to collect Alan:bart:

Alan collected and the next stop was for petrol. After filling up Alan started the car and drove off for all of 10 mtrs before the engine cut out.....I looked over to Alan and simply said it might help if you switch the fuel pump on:rofl:

The journey itself was uneventful except for Alan's left foot braking, accellerating and braking and use of the handbrake to bed the pads in. Just wish he would tell me as it would have saved me getting whiplash.

Once there we got our priorities right and put the kettle on. (I so hope they haven't put that picture in the mag). Then it came time for Alan to go and sign on. The format for the day was simple. It consisted of the drag strip and a handling course and you have as many goes as you liked, but you had to do both in order to score points.

Alan headed straight for the strip as was about 4th in line to go. The first car down the strip and the strip was closed, the guys wastegate had jammed shut causing his turbo to hit 30psi, smashing 2 pistons and putting a hole in his block:frown:

The weather was hot and the track was very sticky so needless to say I was a little concerned but had told Alan to go for it and have fun:smash:

After a few runs he headed back to base for a refreshing cup of tea before heading to the handling course:)

It was a special feeling being at santa pod with only 40 cars and less than a 100 people. You could tell it was a Ford event as everywhere you looked there were people working on theirs cars, right down to some guys we knew changing a headgasket:rofl:

I did have a little concern about the handling course as this was the first time that Alan would have used the Caparo brakes in anger and it wasn't a flying finish.

After some 8 runs down the strip and about the same around the handling course, with the last 4 runs down the strip being back to back with no waiting Alan decided to call it a day
