The late type and early type tentioners are not interchangeable without changing the tentioner housing so you could not of simply used a later type one

If you do an oil change on it ALWAYS brim fill the oil filter before screwing it on take your time filling it and get as much oil as you can in it move it around and get the air out and get oil in it and the variety of oil you will need is Shell Helix 10/40 or equivalent

A more thorough test drive today has highlighted just how 'dead' the standard brakes feel. They are, or seem to be, worse than my old classic brakes which is a bit worrying. I know plenty of you guys have all said so but what is a good price to pay for a suitable upgrade?

Short term I don't see the car getting on to a race track (due to noise limits etc etc) so the basics of pads, discs and fluid should be OK as long as it's all working properly.
Medium term will probably see a Brembo set up getting slapped on (Shhhh! Don't tell Tan

)

Stu, probably just the pads! Slap some cheapish fast road things on in the meantime till you upgrade to a bigger set-up!

I've seem OMP pads on ebay for tuppance...ie 35 quid or something....no idea if they are any good tho.

Get in touch with Godspeed http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/ as they do a kit so you can use bigger discs with the Subaru 4 pots. Darren the RAC guy who used to come on the forum had the kit and said it worked well.
Godspeed also do the fitting kit for the rear Brembos if you do go that root.

Pad wise I always found the EBC red stuffs worked well on my classic.
