Day two
Time for a clean, time to dump that fake carbon scoop and 'fix' a few bits

Dan popped around and as we were looking around the car, we found this piece of JDM whorage
Image
Autobacs serviced the car before it was shipped over here and it only showed 104k (65000 miles) The car now shows 132k so that's 92000 miles or thereabouts from new! Not bulletproof mileage history but a fair indicator and cool points as Dan doesn't have an Autobacs sticker on his ;)
The rear nearside wheel is binding a bit, nothing mega, but it's eating the pad and disc and doing nothing good that's for sure. You can see the extra amount of brake dust that is on the wheel compared to any others
Image
A quick clean showed the alloys to be in fair condition even if the tyres aren't!
Image
The severely faded rear upper spoiler was a bastard to sort out.
Image
Russ made it look so bloody easy when he did his 20 second clean on a test piece, so I set out with my own T-cut (fresh from Halfords) and it was soul destroying getting it near red!
Image
The dual wings on the Sti wagon make handy shelving units too
Image
The interior came up well with no damage to the seats, dash or switchgear
Image
Even the air con works perfectly!!
Dumped the faux carbon vent and swapped it for the OE one
Image
Profile; should look nice with the new wheels

The front splitter is shot to bits but as I didn't have the time to do this properly, I have left it alone for now. It will be repainted along with the skirts and mirrors in due course.
Image
No real driving impressions as I haven't sorted the insurance yet. As Dan said, the bellow at start up is thunderous. No way on Gods green Earth that it will pass a noise test for trackdays but it doesn't half put a smile on your face.

More to follow later in the week

Sounds good. I need to get the rear brake looked at so maybe you could do the honours with that too?
I may get the car insured in the early part of this week and run it up to you from there........could make a day of it and get it up to Sasman for an MOT too :) I will let you know, that's if you can fit the car in this week? (Don't bust a gut as Sasman doesn't even know he's got to MOT it yet :D )

Nice looking car there Stu, look forward to seeing more on this.

You could always get Alistair who owns the MOT place a couple of doors down from Gary to do the MOT. Saves you more than 1 trip.

I had considered that but it may require an Impreza sympathetic MOT ;)

Looks a clean, straight car:nod: I feel your pain when it comes to faded paint work. Tyhat should serve you well as both a daily drive and a track weapon, as long as you can resist the temptation to strip the life out of it.....Well done mate a good buy:thumbs:
