So without going into boring detail I've decided against rebuilding my HKS2540s and have bought a new pair of Garret 2860-5s.

After much backing and forthing it would appear that these will offer a good combination of spool and power and should be able to provide the power I'm after - I'm not going for big figures, but response etc. But my main criteria at the moment is to just get the car on track and reliable, hence avoiding the big single borg warner route etc etc.

They are also proven in similar spec cars to mine - Fee's TA car runs them and it made 640 on v power, 700 on 50% E85 so this is fine for the time being, although of course it's nto a refelction on my car it's an idea of what they can do.

If I decide to change in the future I will have a very sellable pair of turbos too :cheers2:

I've also had all my fuel lines and connections changed, pics to follow. Although this was ludicrously expesnive (as far as I'm concerned it was anyway) I felt it necessary as the old stuff (in previous pics) made the car stink of fuel all the time. Worse still, it made my house stink of fuel all the time whenever it was in the garage so it did need to be adressed :D

So Turbos should be going on today, then it's back on the rollers and wind the boost right up :D

After a little wobble I'm getting excited again now...

Sounds ominous....did AET find the remains of a badger inside of your tubs when they stripped it?

Common problem that, with liners, always sucking up unsuspecting vermin on track days....
[img] Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with....Ray Mears or Bear Grylls?

A. No question....Ray Mears....you could make a shit load more stew out of that tubby little fecker [/img]

Yeah there was some badger, and a bit of fox tail....

Nah it was all good chief, long and short of it was the new ones were only a couple of hundered quid more (which in the scheme of current expenditure is nothing :( ) and offered proven spool and power.

My rebuilt 2540s would have had bigger compressor wheels so would have been different to how they were before and basically I just couldn't be arsed with more uncertaintys.

That's fair enough. Have you got a timescale in mind for when it'll all be mapped and ready to rock

Great to see a display of resilience Christian  Never easy to keep loyal to your vision when you keep getting slapped in the face, but you have done it :)

Looking forwards to seeing/hearing the figures mate (See you tomorrow ;) )

Even though I'm still not impressed about this whole thing, there's still something seriously cool about opening boxes of new bits for your car - especially when they contain some new spanking new tubbies :hurray:

Bloody great set of donkeys to squeeze in there mate! I bet you loved that ceremony of ripping the turbos out. I read Daz's Impreza thread........the guy has got some skills; it will be great to see what he can do with yours

Well if truth be told I'd rather have a pic of holding a mahooooosive great single windmill, but only for photographic effect! I'm sure twins are the right way for me to go.

They'll go in fine as they are actually smaller than the ones I've taken off although admittedly there's not much in it.

Yeah Daz really is good, I trust him implicitly with my car and his advice, Jaydee also said to me Daz is is the only person he would allow to work on his car.
