i have had to replace the 4 brand new tryes on my rx because they are total crap that the garage fitted (would be great for drifting) so i brought 4 michelin pilot sports , now i'm thinking i dont really want to destroy these on a track day so what would be my options for a set of spare tyres just for track ? maybe semi slicks or i know i used to get ex race tyres of people for my bikes can i do this for the car ,i am going to get 4 spare wheels the size would need to be 225 45 18 or 245 40 18 ,and ideas ?
thanks

First and foremost it's worth checking whether there are any oil surge issues with your car. If they are susceptible to oil starvation/surge issues then try to stick with a road tyre and something like the Hankook RS2 or Federal RSR 595 are rated as being amongst the better ones. Both of these have a pretty stiff sidewall, a good tread pattern for most weather types and cheap enough not to feel like you have anally violated without lube!!
If you have no issues with oil (please check though......the amount of engine deaths attributed to sticky tyres and OE oil systems is unreal) then you could go all swanky and buy yourself something like R888's, Yoko A048's or similar. 'Proper' slicks are all well and good but they place an enormous load on everything; suspension, bushes, oil systems and YOU!!! They are cheaper than some options and provide God almighty grip but go steady
