Berg Cup 2011-Eschdorf

Post by Stuart »

Until you have been you will simply be unable to see what all of the fuss is about. Until you have heard, seen, tasted and sampled things at the Berg Cup, the European Hillclimb championships, it will probably look like a retro car festival with some refugees from Formula Renault, Group 3 racing and the odd rally car. Words haven't been created that will convey the atmosphere; photos and video will never capture the pure speed, hard tuned scream of the engines nor the thunder of the exhausts on overrun when they tear through the forest.

Where the Hell do you start when summarising the very best Motor sport event I have ever seen? Here goes.............

I have several videos, over 300 photos (reduced from 700+) and Jamie has over a thousand to upload so this will take some time to pull together.

Let me start by putting something into context. What do you reckon the time difference between a late 1970's VW Polo 1600cc and a full spec Formula Renault was? Course length was 2km or thereabouts and both cars were driven by very experienced race drivers using Avon slicks.

I still have no words to describe the above event my fingers just hover over the keys not knowing where to start.

From the unusual night in folkstone to the best setting and company for a motorsport event.

Need to sleep now.
