Got a bit bored with my black road wheels...

So popped down to Halfords this morning a bought some rattle cans of white paint/lacquer and proceded to spray them in my hallway :willy_nilly:

I kept the inside black as it shouldn't show up the dirt as much...

They look great Jon and you've done a nice job too (lack of overspray etc) This forum is rapidly becoming linked with aerosol paint jobs in the house! Bart has a lot to answer for!

I'm certainly not the biggest fan of polishing the scoob, In fact I can't really see the point (cars are for driving, right?). But as we had a photoshoot with Matt Woods, I made a small effort...

That's the first and last time it'll ever be that clean again :blush5:

Game over, that's it, no more Scoob for me.
After the 3rd & 4rd synchros pretty much lost the will to do there job and the fact that the clutch pressure plate shat itself a few days ago rendering the car undriveable, it's time to put the old girl out to pasture. She's now resigned to a life locked away in my garage for the forseeable future :(
I just can't justify spending more thousands to get her back on the road and the thought of breaking her for parts is far too painful to think about, so in the garage she will stay.
I never in my wildest dreams thought that i'd ever get emotional about a car, but if i'm honest it's brought a tear to my eye by taking her off the road (probably for a good few years).
The journey has been a great one, i've had some amazing times and met some life long friends that I wouldn't have done without the Scoob, so with a heavy heart the decision has been made.

BUT, thanks to James (Fezza) & Linsey I picked up a low mileage Astra SXi today and after a short drive in it tonight have started to fall in love with it's comfort, quiet exhaust note and all the things that one associates with a normal road going car. I'm very much looking forward to enjoying something that doesn't rape my wallet every day in fuel, something that doesn't hurt every muscle in my body and most of all something that I can leave anywhere without the worry of it getting nicked!
If I need an adrenaline speed fix then i've still got the GSXR so things aren't so bad :D
PS
Apologies if I sound like a twat ref the above post :o

Sorry to hear that Jon. My classic RA has taken me to a low place in the past too, when I blew the bottom end on a trackday. Right now it seems pretty good, although it feels older for sure these days, and there's always that residual fear that it's gonna cost me at some point. Give it a while and see how you feel when trackday season approaches again :driving:
