many moons ago - around 1999 thru to 2005 I was active in the 'american infantry preservation society'. Basically collected Vietnam combat equipment, as a group we had a number of guntrucks, jeeps, artillery, mules, mutts plus access to a flying huey. We did shows, books, documentaries .. I ended up with over 10k's worth of gear

This documentary is by a chap called Adam Smith who has ended up doing Dr Who now along with video's for 'the street'.

In the end I was simply too busy to do it anymore so sold all the gear which paid for most of my GTR .. actually just selling the last of the stuff now.

My airsoft M4 and Glock. Only fires bb's, but still looks and feels like a real one.

An interesting point of law here guys.......unless you're part of a recognised group, and have the relevant exemptions, any airsoft that IS NOT either 50% transparent or a bright toy like colour, this becomes a realistic imitation firearm and can be illegal.(Please read the link before flaming me, already held RIF's can be exempt)

This is why some "baddies" are spraying their handguns in lurid colours :(

Very true chief, VCR. However doesn't it apply to new purchases since the law came in in 2007? - i thought it was a case that if you already owned such an item that you couldn't as a private individual sell it or purchase spares. Only recognised dealers / being the member of an organisation allowed the transfer of sale etc. I have seen a pink glock (real one) ... so the law kinda shot itself in the foot.

What I find confusing also is how you differentiate between an IF and an RIF ? ... surely an imitation firearm looks like a realistic imitation firearm even if it is an odd colour

It's an odd law as de-act's which ultimately are more realistic than airsofts are not hit by the same law. You can load up milweb.net and buy a deact M4 or an SA80 with no issues.

Now that is an interesting website, Some amazing stuff for sale on there
I've always fancied an SA80 (bloody expensive though). May have to settle for a Browning machine gun instead :)

I'm a memeber of UKARA, which is the organization you need to be to be in to buy one of these, so it's legal. Most of it is metal, just a couple of parts plastic and we play mostly at Felthorpe near norwich airport. They do it most weekends.

Two places where they do it around Norwich. It's a good laugh, but knackering for someone my age. You get snipers with all the Guilly suits, throat mikes etc. You can hire guns for the day, but you need to go 3 times before you can join UKARA, then you can buy a gun.

All firearms legislation is screwed up.
Just look at all the different ages and classifications next time you're struggling to get some sleep. 15,16,17,18 are all relevant ages for different stuff that shoots things, and there's no minimum age to hold a shotgun certificate, as was evidenced recently by some small kids being shown as license holders.
The sad thing is, all it really does is impeded "decent" people, I suppose the only good thing is it limits the numbers of them in circulation.
