I also went to the HCC dinner a couple of years ago; met some really nice guys but the club appeared to be having difficulties at the time, with a lack of support. Great to hear that Mr Soper is still involved

Not sure about my sprinting Andy.......I am working on something that me be suitable, for fun, if nothing else. No decisions yet, I'll see what happens.

Keep the updates coming :D

The dinner was a sell out, every other person seemed to be a Touring Car legend of yesteryear (I must admit I'd only heard of Steve S and Dave Brodie). Don't think the numbers at the dinner reflect the number of current HCC competitors however!

Good to hear from you Stu, hope to catch up properly at some point this season.

I was at the HCC dinner too, the numbers at the dinner was not a fair representation of the active members. I am the editor of their club magazine and a fairly active member, thers not many there and without some younger members the club will not progress.

The club has changed a lot since I was first involved and numbers are down, events are down, types of events attended have changed, but the core members are still there.

Its great to see the famous names on all the trophies somehow the clubs profile needs to be raised.

When I read back through past editions of the club mag, from the '70s, its astonishing what events were being run, entered and the names of the great drivers that were representing the club.

Yes it's a shame. I was sitting next to the membership sec., and out of all the voices calling for club support, very few were actually members themselves. It would be quite cool to see Steve and Dave etc come out for the HCC sprint just once!

I added the HCC North Weald Sprint to the Sevenoaks Motor Club Speed League calendar this year  Should help boost numbers as in 2010 the closer the event was to "home" the better supported it was.

Just been sent details of a new track layout for North Weald for the Easter Sunday sprint, 2.4km long now! Looking forward to seeing a slightly different event, the longer distance should favour my car a little more in its class. Layout looks very very fast.

Car is a bit tappety :( so I've decided not to enter, I may pop along at lunchtime to check out the new layout.
