Short and sweet update tonight.

The head is off and being inspected, and where possible- improved. One of the inlet valves on cyl 4 looked to not be sealing 100%, which may explain the poor compression, or part of it. ;)

Sump off and pistons out this evening, bores have no sign of any honing marks, which would lead to blow-by issues-

Image

Pistons are good, with no serious scuff marks/detonation, and the shells are decent too-

Oh wait, what's that thin line on the top ringland?-

Oh arse! Another factor in the low compression/sump pressurisation issues. New piston needed! :banghead:

Certainly an option, Stu- though Gary is trying his hardest to keep costs down, despite the temptations of dropping in a 2.3 with a GT30. :D

Plus, being an Evo lump, it would be wise to fit a dry sump too. We do them, don't ya know? http://www.ap-tuning.co.uk/EvoDrySump.html

Think I got away with shoe-horning that advertisment in nicely....
