Maff`s your man! He`s been wragging around in my old 182 for nearly a year now. I think its been totaly reliable for him?
182`s tend to be better put together than the earlier 172`s because as with a lot of manufacturers, in the early noughties the main selling point was gaining euro n-cap stars putting airbags everywhere and warning buzzers for this and that etc... Renault pulled their fingers out in 2004, and re-designed and addressed a few build issues.
That said a lot of the faults ( certainly with the boggo models) tend to be simple niggles rather than terminal.
I would advise that when looking at a 182 make sure that the cambelt has been done (at 60k or every five years) as its a nasty job. the aux belt is every 36k.

Ive done a little digging and it seems that one with both the cup packs is the best as a daily driver as it comes with gas lights, climate, alcantara trim etc etc.
Seen the usual info regarding important cambelt changes and possible worn 2nd/3rd syncros etc.
I do at least 50 miles a day and am currently driving a Ford Transit Connect. Super practical and useful by mega boring if youre a petrolhead like me.

Im not looking for anything that has to set the world alight as im leaving that to the Impreza. Just want a fun, cheapish daily driver. Seeminly, theres really nothing else out there that floats my boat for the money.

Howvere i havent yet driven one and want to know what people who have owned them think?

Unless you intend tracking it, I would n`t bother too much with the cup pack. It does make the ride very hard. Again maff`s the man to answer this as mine had both packs fitted and he`s been driving it daily far more than i did.

i would like the cup pack with the gas lights and climate at the very least to be honest mate. :)

Evening, its been great, took me a while to adjust to fwd but now it keeps the treck to work fun. Hits 33mpg , more if you're careful. Good initial pull but runs out of puff if you're used to relentless Japan turbos. Torque steers and tramlines like a bitch but its all part of its charm, lively and involved drive. On the downside the seats ain't wonderful. In the last year I've only done steering bushes, other than that, it's faultless.

She lived without the creature comforts as liked the fact she had something a bit different. The problem I found with that was if I got in it it made me drive like you had nicked it, it would spin the wheels and torque steer towards most ditches. Luckily we didn’t spend a penny on it in our ownership. Never driven a 182 or none cup to tell the difference tho.

Yes, great car the 182 but still hear of some electrical gremlins with them.
