If someone being honest on a perspective of law is going to cause offence, please skip to the next answer.
I think, and it's only my opinion, that if you have a prang, and that in any way, there is an allegation that you vision was impeded by the "ears" (i.e heaven forbid you pull out of a side road into someone) you'll be screwed, potentially for dangerous driving. I'm quoting here
"If the allegation relates to the state of the vehicle the Court would pay attention to anything that is attached or carried on or in the vehicle and the manner in which it is attached or carried. The Court would always consider what the driver knew at the time the alleged offence occurred"
It's a bit like the Halfords Massive with their 3 foot deep sun strips now allowing them to see out of the front properly. Anything YOU do to reduce visibility out of the car will be seen as a factor should you have a ding.

There's also the small matter of the fun and games the insurance company would have in the event of the claim.
Having said that, I can't think of a law thats been broken by fitting them, it's just if it goes wrong.
Hope I've not offended anyone, and they do look awesome.
Rob
